I love to travel!

Taipei : National Palace Museum

Crowded and noisy. So dark you can barely see a thing (the museum has not much to show anyway). However full of crazy ill-mannered screaming chinese tourists.
Horribly crowded, with huge human traffic in every hallway, smell not funny, the air conditioner is not working well.

If you stay few days in Taipei, don’t bother, don’t worth it. A nightmare.

taipei musée national du palais

You literally walk during kilometers to see NOTHING, trying to hopelessly move on, in the middle a lot of rude chinese tourists behaving like cattle, yelling at each other and stupidly standing in front of every display without moving. So you can’t see the very few things to see, and just waiting for their guide to order them to go there and there, still yelling at each other.

I am not kidding, they’re really like that. Looks like Hell.

If you have few days to stay in Taipei, just go to Zhinan Temple or the Zoo, much better to see, than this empty-lame museum.

Only good thing: Free for students.

Unlike museums in my country, in Taiwan you are apparently not allowed to take pictures (even without flash). I took these before the staff told me I couldn’t, didn’t knew, haven’t see any sign.

In Taiwan you just can’t, so they can sell you overpriced souvenirs in the museum shops located at every floor!

I usually love museum, but can forget this one.

Most ridiculous place to see. Not worth the visit.
Totally overrated!

What to see in Taichung: The Old Prison!

So back here in Taichung, there’s some great places to go. The heat is really annoying and exhausting, plus now, it’s now full of mosquitoes. I know I complain a lot about the heat, but this is humid insane heat, very hard to hold out (and I am used to Spanish heat).

The old prison was destroyed, but there’s left a japanese style dojo, I don’t know much about this place, but was interesting to come.

As always, the place is full of brides taking their pre-wedding pictures (a serious business here), they’re all go to the same damn places: usually my university. I think having all the same wedding pictures is preposterous and stupid.
They’re impossible to avoid, stay hours and come with several photographers, hair-dressers, make up artists, and so-on. And don’t expect them to move just one second, so you can take a pictures of the building WITHOUT them in the backgroung, uhuh, not happening ever.
Really annoying.

Taipei Zoo

So, the heat is officially killing me. And we’re not even yet in summer.
zoo taipei (7)
Taipei zoo was great and the entrance is really cheap (less than 1€), but crowded, noisy, harsh sloping (going up).
It was complicated to take pictures without the crowd all arround.

One thing was quite shocking: once you pass the entrance door, the only store you can see is a Macdonald having full exclusivity! I am against fast junk unhealthy food, and I think it’s so wrong all children with their school, come there to take their food.

And nobody cares about health, ecology and food issues in Taiwan.

Despite this facts, the zoo was a great place to visit.

Taiwan Temples in Taichung

I couldn’t post often lately, because I move from my flat. Not easy though with my mandarin level. My first flat was near enought of the university (by bike, but with the heat, still not convenient), with no bus lines and in the middle of rice fields, in a no man land: Wufeng 1H30 from central city.

My new flat is now at 5 minutes of central city, much better.
And you can find some nice temples walking arround in the streets.

The weather was grey and too warm. Th temples was closed, so I made the pic with no flash through the glass door.

Taichung Rainbow Village and Chinese New Year

Last month it was Chinese New Year here.
Sucked a lot: all crowded places, higher prices, so many traffic jam everywhere, so many people at every cashier’s desk, etc.
And everyday at 24°C (that’s the good part actually) ^^.

If you come to Taichung, don’t miss the Rainbow Village (it’s more some houses, than a real village)!
The houses has been painted by an old very friendly guy, he was actually happy that I came from so far away to visit his place, because, yep, he’s living in the Rainbow Village!
He’s selling souvenirs, so he can live of it, it’s a great deal.

To go there, I took a free bus from Taichung High Speed Rail Station (THSR), I am not quite sure, but I think it was the 99.

What to do in Taichung: Confucius Temple

In central Taichung, you can find Confucius Temple. It’s very easy to access here (I took the bus line 100 until Chung-Yo (the huge mall), very near Yizhong street, then it’s only 10 minutes walking from there.

It’s a beautiful Temple, but they all look very similar to me…
